Gears Of War 3

Well considering this is being released shortly, I'm amazed it's come down to me to create a topic on it!!

Personally I not at all bothered about it because I was bored playing Gears 2 but surely some of you are fans of the 360's biggest (arguably) franchise?! :?
I don't care if a game is "the same every year." So is pizza. Stop buying the bad pizza. Buy the good pizza.

I quite enjoyed the beta but tbh I'll be getting this more for co-op campaign and Horde

I really enjoyed the first two games, and as one of the few split screen co-op games my girlfriend and I have played through both a few times. Strangely though it's not a franchise I've ever been moved to buy on day one, certainly not so close to Arkham City which I've looked forward to since the end credits of Arkham Asylum.

Had this pre-ordered for some time. I unfortunately have to work on Tuesday, but it'll be there when I get home.

My most played game (according to 360v) is Gears 2, and without a doubt my favourite. I have had more fun playing that than any other game.

Took part in the beta and was mesmerised by it, so Tuesday can't come quickly enough.

Will be up for taking part/hosting nights, boosting, co-op whatever really.

I should be getting this on Tuesday, I loved the campaign in the first two.
I didn't play them much online so I should be pretty useless at this, but I'll be up for some games when it's out.

Anyone getting the controller? Or the console?

I wanted the console but the Wife won't let me. So settling for the controller.

Also, I've gone for the limted edition. Although GAME says my order is "cancelled"...

Seems to be getting lots of good review scores including 9/10 in Edge and 9.0 in IGN.

Sadly I'll have to wait till Tuesday for my copy unlike those who have ordered it online

Never ceases to amaze me how many people around here are married, or at least living together with someone, it would be interesting to find out a percentage.

Anyway the reason there is no thread is because at present the site is GOW crazy, there's two features and a news story at least!

But yeah, the game is going to be awesome :-)

I wish they weren't releasing this right when I'm heading back to uni.

Should be a fun Christmas, I guess.

Uni is king for 3am drunken gaming, you'll find you mysteriously have the money to afford it quite quickly.

Very true!

But I'd sadly never get any work done if I took my 360 down with me.

I've watched as much footage as I can find, and visually the sequel looks to be no improvement over Gears of War 2. Has this tired, monotone engine been refined in no way whatsoever...?

It is not bad looking, not by any means, but a number of years have passed now and, well, it looks like the same old same old. And bar a few minor gameplay tweaks, it looks as if the game is almost identical in terms of gameplay. Don't wish to rain on anyone's parade, but Gears of War 2 was a good (not great) game at best, and it really is hard to get excited about playing what appears to be the same f*cking game all over again.

And I know, Horde is, or was fun. But having played it for hours with friends well over a year and a half ago, I'm done, as they say.

So many more attractive prospects coming out before the end of the year. Hard to care about another third person shooter with terrible controls and even worse online play... :?

To each their own, fella. But the fact is a lot of people are excited for it.

I'd like to see your analysis of MW3 later on this year, which will undoubtedly be identical to all previous CODs in terms of series advancement and graphical improvements.

And you clearly didn't play the Beta, if you think the online is horrible.
