First public hint at an Xbox 720 announcement?

Microsoft is really, really looking forward to E3 this year, it seems. Major Nelson has started a countdown clock on his blog, with 158 days to go at the time of writing. How very premature of you, Major.... read more

I will merely say "Hmmmmm" in a protracted and cynical manner and leave it at that.

And please, stop calling it the 720. There is no reason for calling the next Xbox the 720, other than the rather simple and idiotic fact that 360 X 2 = 720. You could just as easily find the square root of 360 and call it the Xbox 18.973665961. Makes just as much sense, from a logical standpoint.

I'm personally calling it the Xbox Shut Up And Take My Money, if the upcoming next-gen Star Wars game is any indication...

We call it the Xbox 720 because "Xbox 720" is the most popular next gen Xbox search term on Google, and I want a piece of that action :)

Second most popular is Gertrude (or it will be by the time we are finished!)

What happened to Xbox Dave too? I miss that one.

Place your bets ladies and gents, I'm going for Xbox Infinity with an Xbox Loop kit as well which is download only/casual/mainly for tv. It makes sense because the sideways 8 is a logical expansion of 360 - a circle, generally, implying infinite entertainment or whatever. It also has an 'X' in the middle, (X) is a very crude infinity sign. The loop is also very logical due to being in the infinity mantra and also having the infinity sign in the middle of the name, if done right - oxo is a terrible attempt at showing this.

Or it is actually called gertrude and has a bacon grill to counter, or vent, heating problems.

Or... they're announcing something gash like Halo 5. Not saying that halo 5 will be gash, only the announcement and hype for it.
It's all in the game...

I like Xbox Dave that would be funny, we all know a Dave, and Dave never tends to let you down, unlike the Xbox 360 which keeps dying on it's arse with a rusty ring of death :)

however I don't really mind that it's called X Y or Z as long as I get to see a major WOW factor and jump in functionality. Otherwise my 360 will keep my kids and I going for another couple of years yet !!!

I very much doubt it'll actually be called the Xbox 720. There would be far too much potential confusion among idiot consumers thinking "derp, I don't want no 720 rubbish, I heard 1080 is totally the best". It also won't be called Xbox 3 for the same reason Xbox 360 wasn't called Xbox 2. It would always seem like it was one behind Playstation 4.
I honestly think it'll just be called "Xbox". If not then it will have a 2nd name. I'm almost certain there won't be any numbers in it.

UNSC: Infinity...Xbox Infinity? Could there be a link between Microsoft's flagship title and its next console?

Too tenuous? Probably? Definitely?

Ok then :(

Didn't MS copywrite Xbox Infinity and the website about 8 months ago? It was one of about thirty copywrites they took out at the time but your idea isn't as tenuous as you may think

Pondering is all well and good but the sad fact is that we must wait for Bezza to be proven right. Personally I like the sound of Infinity, but it's the specs, and even more importantly the games, which I'm really interested and excited about.
