"We didn't want to continue with Darksiders 3, since that doesn't fit with our strategy."

When Vigil Games failed to find a buyer during THQ's bankruptcy auction last month, the future seemed bleak for the Darksiders developer - but help came at the 11th hour from Crysis publisher Crytek, which has founded a new Texas studio, Crytek USA, composed of laid-off Vigil staffers. Alas, while Vigil's spirit lives on, the Darksiders franchise probably won't.... read more

Its good that Vigils still going, but to just ditch Darksiders... DS3 could have looked great running on cryengine, and why do i have the feeling theyl just be working on another FPS now.... I hope Platinum or somebody buys the lisence, we more than just Shooters on the market.

At the same time, we didn't want to continue with Darksiders 3, since that doesn't fit with our strategy

Is that the strategy of rubbishing everyone elses games for being mediocre and then releasng some of the most souless shallow FPS ever seen? So glad you're sticking with that strategy rather than working on DS3

This might not be the end for Darksiders, just the end of Vigil making it. I remember reading one studio mentioned they wanted the ip and nothing else, well now they have that chance. The rest of THQ's portfolio is being sold piecemeal and Darksiders could well be one that is bought up.

Darksiders 3 could be pretty damn good if they took the best things from each game and gave more focus to horse play. Really hope someone picks it up, it deserves another chance, far too many other games have been ditched for no reason at all.

If I owned my own company I would definitely buy the Darksiders IP. It has so much potential. It's such a shame Vigil or "Crytek USA" ditched it. I hope their "strategy" doesn't involve the production of another FPS.
