Is your neighbourhood branch affected?

HMV administrators Deloitte have tagged almost 70 stores for closure, in a bid to secure a future for the collapsed entertainment retailer, which announced that it was unable to honour millions of pounds in debt payments on 15th January. Around 930 staff will be affected - if you're among them, best of luck.... read more

Damn, Wigan is my local branch, and the only one left that was a single trip away. They closed the one at the Middlebrook retail park a while back, so my nearest is Preston (which will cost me over £10 just to get there between the bus and train). They're even shutting the one in Manchester city centre. :( Looks like I'll be using my Amazon Prime membership a bit more now.

I bet GAME in Wigan are happy, because HMV were their only real competition.

I'll be sad to see the White Rose one in Leeds go. They've got a damn good Gamerbase there.

The Manchester branch had Gamerbase too. I can't see why they'd shut it, because it was always packed, even on a January weekday. The Trafford Centre is a bitch to get to on public transport from where I live, so it's Preston or nothing for me. :(

Yeah, I go to that one sometimes. Still, at least the big one in the City Centre's still open.

"66 HMV store closures face closure"

Am I just being an idiot or does that not read right?

Anyway, I'm glad to see my local branch is not listed.

The Southampton branch looks safe, which is good as I have some friends who work there and it's usually busy. Plus they should do slightly better now that Game has closed 4 out of the 5 stores it had within 200m of them (no exaggeration)

I was thinking that, I read it several times wondering whether I was stupid or not. Turns out I am but it still reads wrongerely.

Anyways the Southampton branch looks safe, which is good as I go there and it's usually busy. Plus they should do slightly better now that Game has closed 4 out of the 5 stores it had within 200m of them (no exaggeration....apparently).

I assume that pop-up in the mall will go though, seems a pointless waste of rent to me.
I have given pleasure to the world because I have such a beautiful ass.

As a former employee of HMV my deepest sympathies for all my those employees no looking for alternative futures.

On a personal note I would like to mention Scotland appears to have gotten the majority of their stores axed. Is this good financial planning or is this more once again nobody cares what happens in Wales, Scotland and Ireland because these places are merely English Add ons.

Something to think about and contemplate.

There goes the one in Coleraine...to be honest Im not surprised as their prices are ridiculous. They have Dishonored New for £27.99 and for preowned its £27.98.
That leaves my town with CEX...and if the preowned ban actually happens on the next gen consoles then that store wont survive too long.

Warrington, that's my local gone. All the close by ones have gone too, glad I got rid of my vouchers on Dishonored last week. A real shame to see so many losing their jobs, though, here's hoping they find work soon.
