Rebooting the iconic, original Tomb Raider - Indiana who? - couldn't have been the easiest of design briefs, with both history and fierce nostalgia weighing heavily on existing developer Crystal Dynamics and fresh scribing talent Rhianna Pratchett.... read more

Why you don't just make up every other word I don't know. I went right passed the review and score just to look at the pretty pickachures and made my mind up based on that. It gets a mark of "lots of fire / 10"

Edit: Just in case you're crying into your flatcap gravy and blowing your nose on a whippet I do read the wordy things.

Just to be different - I read the entire review before checking out the score. Got this on pre-order so looking forward to playing.

After the delight of your "interactive" review I am currently finding it difficult to re-adjust to bog standard reviews.

Whenever I buy gaming magazines I seem to read the reviews much more than when i'm reading them online!

Guilty as charged. Enter page 1, skip to page 2, check score, reload page 1, read. I'm sure they do it for page counts and ad revenue...
Anyway, although I like the look of this, and an 8/10 might have been enough to get me to part with hard-earned cash, the lack of MP write-up leads me to believe the score reflects only the SP campaign. The completely unnecessary MP would clearly detract from that, and I will possibly pick this up second-hand later. Do you see, publishers? SP only = new sale; SP+(tacked on)MP = pre-owned.

So in other words it's what a lot of us expected: A really strong game that is well worth playing but in actual fact could have lived quite happily as a new IP?

I'll still pick it up, but I think it's a pity that they made a TR game with out the T or the R

I only read all those wordy things on games I'm excited for, and usually in magazine form, strange I know.

An 8/10? I kinda expected to see a 9 tbh, but nonetheless it's got a good enough score so it pleases me.

Apologies for the lack of insight on multiplayer - we weren't able to put in as much time as we'd have liked during the review playthrough, as Microsoft's PartnerNet servers were on the blink. Either I or Dan (who's freelancing for us this week) will get hold of a copy and write up a definitive verdict by or before release. Sorry also for not making this clear in the review - it's from the mag, and the situation with multiplayer was explained in an Xbox Live boxout I neglected to include.

Try to blow your nose on a whippet and you'll soon be crying into your flatcap gravy, of that you may be very sure.

A review? One week early? Edwin Christ!

Not sure how I feel about this one, I like Tomb Raider, but the gritty reboot makes me cringe every time I see it.

Does no tombs denote no actual tomb raiding? If so, that's like calling your game Final Fantasy.
