War never changes? Look closer

Damon Baird and the roughnecks of Kilo Squad are on trial for their lives, dragged before a COG tribunal chaired by the incurably grumpy Colonel Loomis as Halvo Bay collapses in fetchingly rendered flames around their ears - and so, in a sense, is the Gears of War series at large.... read more

Great review Edwin, still got a couple of questions though if you have the time?

Can Overrun and Survival be played solely with and against bots?

Can all other multiplayer modes be played against bots?

Can all Declassified missions be played solo, or are some/all locked to co-op play (as per Dead Space 3)?

Still, great review, even if someone did swallow a thesaurus – parsimonious! Really! Meant I had to crack out a dictionary!

Thanks Allusive - sorry you had to bust out a dictionary :) I'm working on the full review Q&A, with answers to some of the questions you posed. Off to play a bit more now actually, need to double-check some stuff.

If GoW:J was a pie, what flavour would it be? And is it playable by hookers?
...and if you tell that to the kids of today, they wont believe you!

Is puff pasty an acceptable shell for the meaty goodness therein? Sometimes you get quite stodgy pies so I think the overall quality is determined by the casing rather than the filler.

No! Go back to you lettuce! Pies are for men, men who invented the wheel and stab animals with tazers! And women too.

Any pastry is good, though a puff pasty conjours images of a effeminite pasty... I'm not even sure what that'd be like, a nice pasty but you just don't want it, thanks!

Too right, what are you ratty, a rabbit?

It would be if it were for a store bought pie, but the home made tonnes of meat style pie with no sides as it were, you get the lady-like fluffy gubbins but underneath is a thicker layer of rubbery goodness. Sadly my weakness is the all steak pukka pie. I'm ashamed of myself but the pastry on that is larvely.

Seconded. Generally in terms of the conclusions very much what I expected though. I only really got GOW3 because of some feeling of completionism, this doesn't really tempt me at all, just seems like more of the same and unnecessary treading-water until next gen hits us.

I've always had high hopes for this game, played it and loved it! Even though its a prequel, it feels like its missing something. GoW3 is still the best gears to date, they have done a good job but they took out Horde-couldnt stop playing it. The maps online arent much as its 4 every mode, hope the DLC is good.
