Update: Registrations date back to 2004

Microsoft has bought up a slew of web domains relating to "Xbox Fusion", including XboxFusion.com, XboxFusion.info, XboxFusion.biz, XboxFusion.de, XboxFusion.co.uk. Could this be the name of the firm's next generation console, due for reveal 21st May? Or the name of a next Xbox application, service or even peripheral? Let's hope it's the latter. "Fusion" sounds like some sort of toothpaste.... read more

Well if it's true it also indicates the direction of the next console:

A Fusion of Games with Kinect, Apps, Smartglass, Social Media And Many Other Features You Don't Want, Need Or Like.™

Xbox Infinity is a sweet name and makes sense really (plus the logo is cool). Hope it's that instead of just Xbox or Xbox 3 or whatever.

Infinity is also my favourite of all the possibles listed so far, for all of the reasons listed above plus Infinity just sounds like a natural progression of 360. That said, good luck naming the next generation after that!

Of course if analysts are right and this really is the last "true console generation" then I guess it won't be a problem...

when you fuse something you put two things together so this could mean that they are going to fuse the two generations and put in backwards compatibility as this would show that Microsoft are thinking for more of their customers!

Fusion does sound like the console most of us are dreading. A machine with multiple ways to entertain and quite possibly where the emphasis wont be on gaming as much as we'd like.

Didn't Sony try a fusion of their own with the PS3, it was a PS1, PS2, PS3, A Blu Ray player, A DVD player and whatever else it had which hiked up the price to an extortionate amount.

If I am forced to buy a console with a built in Kinect, something I will never use but have to pay for nonetheless so I can experience the New Xbox that wont sit right with me and is quite possible that it will put me off purchasing the new Xbox completely.

If you go on YouTube and search for Kinect Fusion, its an interesting project Microsoft are working on, my bet is that "Xbox Fusion" is something to do with some Kinect software/functionality.

Why don't they go with something simple like Xbox Bob? :P
