So Ubi bought the THQ Montreal and all the rights to it's IPs, then (possibly) sack the studio head and shelf the only IP it was working on and owned.

They bought THQ Montreal because...?

apparently they suspended development instead of outright cancelling the game so the rights to the game wouldn't go back to Déselits'.
