EA gameplay engineer CV cites "Xbox 720" development

Postby CunningSmile » 17 May 2013, 12:17

My guess is he's just referred to the 720 because of non-disclosure agreements concerning the real name. Plus just like you guys aiming for page hits, he wants to use a name that will allow nice easy internet searches by prospective employers.

They should call it the iBox, because putting a lower case i in front of a word makes said product shift like hotcakes.

Calling it the 720 makes no sense. The 360 was appropriately named due to the 360 degree lights.
Might I suggest xbox 3? Anything but 720, sounds awful in common parlance.

They won't go with Xbox 3. The whole reason the current one is 360 rather than Xbox 2 is because customer research showed people thought the PS3 was better than the Xbox 2 as it had a higher number. Either they'll drop the numbering all together and just go with Xbox as Ed says, or it'll have something fancy and non specific like the Infinite or Fusion.

I'm always going to think of it as Gertrude though.

I'd settle for anything over the proposed names, even Nextbox

I'm sort of hoping they come over all Willy Wonka/crazy Japanese and call it the All Singing All Dancing Wondertabulous Much Happy-maker.

...probably more chance of it being called Gertrude.

Research shows everyone is talking about 'it', whatever it is. So it will be called the It. And everyone will talk about It.

If it didn't sound like a bizarre sex toy the Wondertabulous Much Happy-maker would get my vote.

I hope it will be something that gets attention, something headline grabbing, like Punchbox or Fightbox or KickMaster.

Seriously? Are people really that stupid? Well then I suggest XBox 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
