I just bit the bullet, took the 1600 points on the chin and purchased the full game!
I have to say this is one of the most impressive arcade games i think i have ever seen.
Fantastic fun, yes its a bit ropey around the edges, but it actually looks and plays very well.
Although i am still struggling with a few things, such as finding a bloody mechanic and materials for your home.
For materials, check construction yards (larger ones and smaller houses being built), warehouses and garages around the houses (they show up on the map right next to the houses so you can put your waypoint on them if you want).
As for the Mechanic, on my first playthrough I never got one, my 2nd time through I made sure to complete every call for searching for new survivors I could and got a mechanic that way. What you can also do though is use your base to help you search for specific things, survivors or supplies, it has a shortish countdown then will tell you where they can be found, so keep using that to find new Survivors and eventually you may end up with a mechanic.
