blacker than a cloudy night in Hades

Actually, the last time I was in Hades it was pretty cloudy, and I have to say, it was a heck of lot blacker than these flimsy looking headphones!

All we need now is a script to cold sell PPI insurance claims.

Xbox One headset and controller charger revealed - first ima

It looks good, and I'll certainly be picking one up.

One point though Ed - I'm quite frustrated about one factor about the XB1 headset though - staff at my local GAME store were equally confused. The Xbox One now does not come with a headset included in the box; its now a priced extra, unless they haven't got around to updating the console specs. Sneaky move this by MS, clearly pushing the user towards the Kinect 2 for all interactivity besides the controller.

For voice, this could be fine if the software powering the mic is robust enough to filter your voice in party/game chat as if you were using a mic. Having to talk over outside noise, a la the original Kinect sounds like a disaster waiting to happen especially with intense online games e.g. Battlefield.

Hey mate - have you got a link to a story about the headset being sold separately?

This was just me theorizing, not seeing it in the contents of the package for the XBox One. Like here from GAME - http://tinyurl.com/mzmc3pq. I for one haven't seen any articles about this apart from these same reveal images **searches Google**. Apologies Ed!

EDIT: the guys at my local GAME store also couldn't find a unique SKU code for the headset on their lists, so I guess the headset being separate may just be an initial rumour.

It's not looking good Ed......

I've just checked Amazon and a whole host of other retailers and every one of them has no headset listed within the box contents for the XB1 (as opposed to the box contents of the "other" console which lists a headset).

Certainly needs clarifying just don't ask anyone from Microsoft!.....

will the controller be using a normal sized port, so we can use PC headsets?

while it does look a little industrial, the design suits me just fine - as someone with hearing problems and as such, hearing aids, I need my audio to be external, rather than the PS4s earphone style one

[edit] damn you MS making us buy 3 headsets for your products

Just to add some more speculation to this - I also heard that their definitely was not going to be a headset in the box. I think it was via Dan Amrich (OneOfSwords) on his podcast. Sorry I don't have any firmer evidence.
