"There's something here that's really powerful we can use."

Eurogamer's got a good piece on Xbox One's vaunted cloud functionality, from which I do hereby extract the following choice observations from Titanfall's lead artist Joel Emslie, and Watch Dogs senior producer Dominic Guay.... read more

Titanfall, Watch Dogs developers discuss Xbox One's cloud co

Postby Emezie » 20 Jun 2013, 13:00

Power of the cloud?

I was looking forward to it but after Microsofts embarrasing U-Turn, i have zero interest in Xbox One at the Moment.

This Cloud will become a gimmick just like the original Kinect on xbox 360

This is because now developers will not want to use the cloud for significant processes because not every one will be connected.

Even if the cloud is used, it will be heavily restricted by the lowest common denominator i.e the offline mode users.

Well you'd have to assume the technical specifications would be higher on the PC than what is required of the Xbox One.

Wasn't my point, my point was that Titanfall isn't an exclusive title as stated in the article. (Note to self... Explain more)

Think Ed might be counting it as more between consoles, rather than PC/console. I think it is a timed exclusive on the Xbox One though, then the PC gets it later.

Come on Sparks, you know PC never gets included when people talk about exclusives. Even the publishers never include PC in interviews, the only time it gets mentioned is when the advert comes out.
A Tweet is like an episode of Game of Thrones; there are 140 characters and something awful usually happens

It's a console exclusive, yes - sorry for any confusion.

No, he is right with everything he said. People like you just don't realise that this u-turn is worse than having always online and DRM. You call him a fanboy and a kid yet it's you that's acting like both.

If a developer wants to make substantial use of the cloud, all they have to do is make the game always-online, surely? Like The Division, The Crew, Titanfall and Destiny?

I am hoping that this will be made obvious to consumers.

Yeah but not all Dev's will be willing to take the risk of possible low sales. Ubisoft, Bungie and Respawn can take the risk. But i fear smaller less known teams *won't* do it.

EDIT: Won't*

Well in that case they wouldn't have been on board with the xbox one anyway!

Not everybody's going to make use of it, no, but I doubt everybody would have made use of the cloud regardless. At the end of the day, there's plenty of memory on the new Xbox already.
