Board rules that game "offends against standards of morality, decency and propriety"

Volition and Deep Silver's Saints Row 4 has been denied an age rating by the Australian Classification Board, because it "rewards" in-game drug use and features "interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence". As a consequence, it'll be illegal to sell or display the game in stores across the country when Saints Row 4 launches in August. Woe unto artistic license, etc.... read more

Doesn't Oz have some weird ratings system whereby films can be rated 18 or M but games stop at 14/15? Means that almost instantly anything deemed not suitable for a 15 year old gets banned, even if the same content in a film would be OK.

They've had an 18 rating for games for a while now, SR4 was refused that 18 rating.

Cheers, didn't realise they'd introduced this. About time they caught up with the rest of the world.

Of course. It seems, afterall that censors would far rather we were influenced into butchering each other than sleeping with each other.

Maybe its a form of population control. Or maybe they know they can blame video games for violent crime but not for a rise in teen pregnancy :?

Yahtzee will be pleased :)

Still, you can't fault them for dilligently trying to reduce that kind of content entering their society - misguided and utterly wrong though they are.
