Activision's still keen on the whole Call of Duty thing, readers, despite lavishing the lion's share of E3 limelight on Bungie's forthcoming Destiny. According to the firm's Eric Hirshberg, the franchise is still the one to beat.... read more

The story mode is going to be...I don't know if you've seen what we [showed at E3], but it's gorgeous. It's emotional. It's got a different kind of tonality and feeling to it

You play as a bunch of gruff American special ops agents killing Russians based on some flimsy revenge plot, I'd hardly say its emotional or different

Never been stronger? Not if Black Ops II is anything to go by. The campaign was a disjointed jigsaw of semi-interactive cut scenes with the usual America Vs the world bullshit storyline, while the multiplayer felt more like an expansion pack for Black Ops 1. I, and many of my friends, have already decided to give Ghosts a miss and go with Battlefield 4 instead.

But it has a dog. And I wouldn't be surprised if A) The dog is the most relatable member of the team, and B) the dog dies near the end to provide "emotional impact" and of course further justifying the revenge plot, bonus points if it's a heroic sacrifice, like in Fable 2.

Emotional? In between the sections of mindlessly blasting people to mincemeat?

How about some humour, like when one of them farts and blames the dog?

Or an even better idea, the dog farts! :D

Some dogs, the german shephard included, have a gastrorhemblastoid gland which means they don't produce gas in the same way most other animals do. As a result, these dogs don't fart.

Probably just as well for those stealth missions I guess.

Perhaps they could include a scene in the game where someone farts, tries to blame the dog, then has the gastrowotsit gland thing fact said to him. Humorous, emotional AND educational.

The US overwhelms Russia and pushes them back to Moscow but the Russians, having developed a time machine, go back and kill Einstein. Back in the present the Russians are winning but from no where the japanese attack.

Bam, story done.

Now if I hadn't just ripped off the story from Red Alert 3 I'd be a genius.

Like any hardcore COD fan is bothered about an emotional deep and meaningful script.
I just hope it has more gameplay than the last one, 'cos that relied so heavily on QTE's I actually wondered if it would be easier to play with a dance mat!

That would be cool dance mat COD. Maybe it could link in with Fishy's story line (that he borrowed) where you have the assassinate Einstein via a dance off :P
