"Fighters who make eye contact", anybody?

Imagine how much goodwill Microsoft might have reaped, had it kept Rare and Double Helix's Killer Instinct reboot under wraps till E3. The project came to light back in September 2012, when some bright spark over at PlayXBLA pointed out that the manufacturer had renewed the trademark, but it was still a pleasant surprise to see the beast in action.... read more

Nice read. I hope KI turns out great, and that everyone will be happy.

Rare can't you just go make another perfect dark game, a good one this time. Microsoft should sue them, honestly they've done nothing but release rubbish for years!

I'm old enough to remember KI the first time round, can anyone explain to me why people want this game back so bad?

I mean, this is a game that kind of provided some sort of competition for Streetfighter in the arcades 20 years ago...kind of.

While on console it absolutely sucked.

Not trying to pull it down, though. I genuinely want to know why, suddenly, does everyone seem to want this franchise back?

EDIT: If they'd just released it on XBLA, I would've said 'oh, great idea', but at launch on the One?

It was fun and people quite enjoyed it would be good enough a reason I'd say. Plus it's pretty much guaranteed Microsoft will earn a few bob off it.

It also makes a change from Street Fighter and Tekken.

Who doesn't like the idea of beating up a werewolf as a dinosaur too?

He did the music for the recent Giana Sisters game on XBLA so...............................

The most pointless and unwanted remake since Gus Van Sant's Psycho :-(

Of all the fantastic IP's from Rare/Ultimate over the years they choose this turgid effort??

They've done sequels and remakes of pretty much every other Rare IP and people hated them, so why not? Not saying that any of those games were bad, personally I thought they were all great in their own right, but why not take a wack at Killer Instinct.

Yeah, I mean there is hardly any choice when it comes to fighting games, there's only Street Fighter and Tekken...and Soul Calibur...King of Fighters...Blazblue...Dead or Alive, Marvel vs Capcom, Guilty Gear, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Darkstalkers, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Samurai Shodown, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter. Yup, really limited choice.

I wonder if someone at Rare actually suggested making a new game rather than try to recapture their glory days. Is it Rare, have they just run out of steam, or is it MS are they unable to manage this company so that they produce something of high quality like they used to do regularly under Nintendo?

Rare has produced plenty of high quality games(Kameo, Viva Pinata, B&K: Nuts and Bolts), problem is most fans like many Nintendo fans just want the same old.

All you've done there is name most of Rare's 360 portfolio. Believe it or not, Rare produced EXCELLENT games before MS purchased them......

I was responding to the comment above mine, suggesting that Rare has run out of original ideas or has been mismanaged by Microsoft.
