"Scotland's largest export", thrills original GTA writer

An hour of gameplay time in Grand Theft Auto 5 represents no less than £1.7 million out of Rockstar and Take-Two's wallet, it seems. As revealed by studio co-founder Dan Houser in the Guardian, the new GTA is no less than 100 hours long. According to the Scotsman, meanwhile, the final development and marketing bill is around £170 million, making this one of the most expensive videogame projects ever.... read more

100 hours?

That should take me nicely up to the 22nd of November...... :D

And the cost of production is irrelevant considering how much money the game is likely to take over it's lifespan. Multiply that development cost by 10 and it'll be about right!

I would absolutely love it if a bunch of Star Wars fanatics arrived in this thread, all tooled up and ready for war.

I loved the Phantom Menace.

Hopefully it doesn't take me longer than that, I'm wanting Arkham Origins to be the last game I'm buying this gen, well until Lords of Shadow 2 comes out at least.

Fairy Nuff

It's arguably bigger than the next Star Wars film

REALLY!!!!!???????? I don't think so somehow! Has the GTA franchise ever influenced an entire generation of writers, producers and directors? Has the GTA franchise ever required new technologies to be invented to create it, technologies that have, via THX Digital, Industrial Light and Magic and Skywalker Sound, changed not only the field they were invented for but almost every other field of media entertainment? Has the GTA franchise spawned its own religion so widespread that three major world governments (the US, UK, and New Zealand) have been forced to either recognise it's legitimacy or redesign their census reporting to account for it? Has the GTA franchise every generated over a billion dollars in merchandise alone? Has a GTA character ever been considered as one of the most widely recognised cultural icons ever as Darth Vader has been? Will people still be releasing books about the cultural relevancy of GTA in 30 years? I think not.

Was that what you had in mind Ed?

In fairness though he said "arguably bigger than the next star wars film" not bigger than the entire star wars franchise to date.

Damn all this news, going back to uni next week and not taking my 360 so no GTA 5 for me :(
On top of that I also won't be getting Xbox one till at least June because of uni

Starting to question whether this degree and future stuff is really worth it.

However should GTA 5 be announced for next gen between now and June I would be quite happy to wait

I am waiting till march to get mine, you never know there might be a slight price drop by then (I doubt there will though if I am honest but can only hope), but this will be the first x box I haven’t bought on or very close to release date!
