Ed chats with CEO Victor Kislyi about the free-to-play colossus

Like a middle-class dad tootling down the motorway in an impressive, but impractical vintage Ford, Microsoft aims to support the Xbox 360 well into the lifespan of the Xbox One. There's perhaps no surer proof of that than the announcement of a console version of World of Tanks, the engrossing tactical shooter that took PC by storm back in 2010. It's not just that this is a top-shelf multiplayer experience, in which scores of upgradable death machines jostle for dominance of sprawling, naturalistic maps - World of Tanks is built for continual evolution, offering brand new content and features for years after it appears on the Marketplace.... read more

Playing the Beta at the mo, and its good fun. However I did find the gui a little confusing at first but I think ive figured it out :) Got to love the artillery tanks, as you get a top down view of the battlefield. Oh and seeing about 15 other players on your side lined up ready for battle is epic :)

Just played the beta yesterday :) I liked the way it looked, but I really didn't like the controls and found my tank going all over the place :/ and also, the first tank you get is really slow... Might just be me though... Don't get me wrong , it has great potential and looks great :)

WoT on 360 looks really good and I have beta access. BUT, each time I've tried to play in the last few weeks I've had massive lag and have to quit because of it. I'll be hanging on and having another go once the connection to the servers improves

A little worrying how they still haven't even teased a release date, and their "summer" release slot is rapidly dwindling

(maybe they want to put a significant amount of time between it and GTA V)

X BOX ONE NOT BEING BACKWARD COMPATIBLE

Postby hotshall1 » 23 Sep 2013, 12:34

Like most people I know who have xbox360 we all feel that Microsoft have made a major error in not making the xbox one backward compatible with the 360.

All the games we have just useless. Why would we go out and buy yet another console? The way we all feel is "Why not give the PS4" a go if we have to buy a second console.

PS4 isn't backwards compatible with your 360 games either (or PS3 games for that matter), so I'm not sure what your point is.

There will be games still being made for it and with some great Free-to-play games coming/out. the Xbox 360 isn't dead yet.
