There's some pretty good stuff there, A7X, Maiden, Mastodon, Def, Pantera and Rush* being my highlights (oh also REM)

*I'm guessing this will be the ultra hard final song

Full 55-song tracklisting for Rocksmith 2014 Edition reveale

Postby Skipstream » 19 Oct 2013, 12:05

Has anyone every tried this? My 9 year old has an electric guitar and can play a few chords but needs a bit more direction - £20 a week on lessons is just too much right now so this might be an alternative - especially since she has an xbox in her bedroom!

I also bought a guitar on a whim when she did but it sits there making me feel guilty!

According to the FAQ the game supports lead, rhythm and bass - so you should be covered so long as your guitar has the 1/4" output jack.

Nice, as sad as it seems gaming could be the way to encourage me to learn to play (as long as the game has patience for my uselessness xD)

The first Rocksmith added Bass in after about six months with a patch, as Ben says 2014 apparently has it from the start

This is absolutely an alternative to those lessons. I can't speak to the 2014 edition, of course, but the original version is a very capable teaching tool. It sounds like they're taking the 2014 version and improving upon an already proven formula. This is not a game as much as a piece of instructional software that incorporates gaming mechanics to teach the user not only to play the guitar, but to play the guitar correctly. The technology is really amazing, and well worth the price compared to the cost of lessons. I can't recommend it enough.

I'm pleased with Radiohead in this, although it needs some Pink Floyd :)

This looks like a great track list, although having being inspired by the guitar hero soundtracks over the years there isn't a lot on there that I can't thrash out already.*

(*Sounds made are only coincidentally similar to actual songs attempted)

Plus after reading that amps/effects had to be unlocked in the last one I went and bought an effects pedal so I think I may have to pass this one by too. Seems a shame as I could always do with pointers but there's nothing that really grabs me about this.

Imagine if this game had you trying to drum like Neil Peart  Although I'd have said Pantera, just for length of song and having to switch between rhythm/lead constantly.

I have very happy memories of the original PS2 Guitar Hero and tricking a friend who'd never heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd into playing Freebird on the hardest difficulty. They collapsed in exhaustion by the end of the 7 minute guitar solo

Hahahaha, that's brilliantly evil. Although impressive that they stuck with it to the bitter end.

Could you make that a punishment for one-hit wonder forum trolls? I'm sure it would leave as much lasting trauma as the hammer/finger scene form Casino did.
