Xbox One's new dashboard - nine things you need to know

I has a question about profiles?

My Better half uses the xbox to catch up on terrible television and listen to the devils music :x

With the one, are we going to need to pay for another subscription if im not there?

Or should i just switch Kinect off?

Is there any way to prevent someone shouting 'Xbox off' through your door and running away?

If you own one Gold profile, everybody in your house can use certain of the features.

MS have said that unlike with the 360 if one person has Gold on the One then all other profiles on the console will be able to access the premium content whilst using that console. Give your better half her own profile to log into and it can track which ever stuff she's interested in.

EDIT: And Ed beat me to it

Plus don't forget that besides keeping your profile free of all her stuff, having her own set up may give her a greater sense of ownership and help convince her that a One was a useful way of you spending money and not just a boys toy that she puts up with  You might even get her to try a few games

The switching between profiles is apparently much sped up from the 360 as well, so thats less of a hassle now as well.

Number 5, on the first line there is a random zero.

Typo McGee here to help/ruin your life.

One Gold subscription on the Xbox works for all users on that console! :)

This looks good and could be really promising once the TV side is fully sorted out for the UK!
Perhaps in the future people's SKY TV box or Virgin Media cable box will be replayed by an Xbox One !

It certainly looks designed to replace the cable box in the US, however it'll be a nice surprise if MS remember that places outside the US need different features and sort out Sky for us. It's my one grumble with them is their tendency to forget the rest of the world sometimes.
